Pop-up Entertainment
Do you enjoy circus acts, LIVE music, dramatic arts or dance? Then you are going to love all the entertainment popping up around town during Montpelier Madness October 15-17.
Albert Joy, dancer, musician, has been playing button accordion since the last century. He will get you moving to the traditional dance music of many lands. Waltz with your partner or polka around the town. Dance a schottish or a mazurka. It’s sure to lift your spirits.
John Stork is bringing his comedy show that features juggling, acrobatics, fire and a handstand on five chairs to downtown Montpelier.
“POI” is the Maori word for “ball” on a cord. The Maori used it to improve strength and coordination. Nowadays it is done with the ball on fire and by people all over the world. Naosha has been spinning poi for the last 15 years and is excited to share her firey modern take on this ancient art!
John Smyth is a singer-songwriter who has been playing his original music in venues throughout Vermont since 2010. His album, "Hunger Mountain Clay", was released in 2018. John plays with full bands, performs solo and acoustic and anything in between. He will record his next CD at the Green Room in Plainfield Vermont.
Austin’s show is a display of chaotic and highly refined throwing and catching. His routines are choreographed to the sounds of dropping jaws, cheering fans and smiling children. You will feel joy from watching the shapes, colors and fire of his props dancing though the air. Austin will personally guide you to better understand this novel way of playing with gravity commonly referred to as juggling.

Local group, Vecchio Stile (Old Style), plays and sings traditional tunes from a dozen different provinces of Italy, including three songs featured in Lost Nation Theater 2015 production of Stone (Dio Del Cielo, Bella Bionda, and Da Teran Pianta). The group (accordion, fiddle, guitar, and bass) was formed five years ago as a jam dedicated to playing music that was quite familiar to the immigrants in the Vermont stone-cutting industry (Barre, Rutland, Bethel).
Paden Full is a solo guitarist that plays both acoustic and electric. You will enjoy his mellow rock tunes.
The Raven:
Lost Nation Theater’s founder and artistic director Kim Allen Bent, takes the stage – a top the Montpelier City Hall Portico to perform – Live and in person - Edgar Allan Poe’s haunting poem “The Raven.” The lack of moonlight, holocaust cloak costume and minimal lighting will all add to the spooky atmosphere and expressive recitation. Bent will literally “perch above the chamber door” (well, City Hall’s front doors) saying “Nevermore!”
