Recreational fun such as biking, hiking, and skiing is just steps from the heart of our downtown. There is no better place to view the amazing fall foliage season Vermont is known for than from Hubbard Park, located directly behind our beautiful State House. At night, Montpelier is a hot bed of music venues, theater and art - there is something for everyone. We have a world-class Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings, and on many weekends throughout the year, there are seasonal festivals serving up a lot of fun for a City of our size.
For all of these reasons and more, Montpelier continues to be ranked at the top of "best places" in competition with cities all over the world. Most recently, Montpelier was named Number 1 Best Small Town Downtown in America by Best Choice Reviews.
Montpelier is part of a network of 24 Designated Downtowns in Vermont, and together we work to ensure historic preservation in our cities and towns. We are very proud to serve the Capital City and this incredibly vibrant community.
