  1. Bread and Puppet Theatre -The Bad Bedsheet Existibility Show Part 1 at TW Wood Gallery

    January 25, 2020, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ T. W. Wood Gallery

    The TW Wood Gallery is pleased to present the work of Peter Schumann of Bread and Puppet Theater. This important show will be exhibited in both the Hallway and the Nuquist Gallery. The new exhibit features hundreds of new works, big and small, by Peter Schumann and his Bread and Puppet Theater. The exhibit will run from January 25th to February 20th, 2020. All shows are free and open to the public. Reception: February 7th, 4:00 – 8:00pm - In Conjunction with Art Walk 5:00pm - Bread and Puppet Performance: The Bad Bedsheet Existibility Show Part 2 Peter Schumann will perform a Fiddle Rant and along with Bread and Puppet members and volunteers a Contastoria Performance for “The Bad Bedsheet Existibility Show Part 1” at the reception. There will be live music and singing and bread and aoli will be served at the end of the performance as is tradition. Items from the Bread and Puppet Press will be available for perusal and purchase.

  2. All-Gender Roller Derby Recruitment

    January 26, 2020, 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM @ Montpelier Recreation Center

    Ever wanted to try roller derby? Here's your chance! No experience or gear required to get started. Make new friends, get super strong and fit, have fun, and get working on those new year's resolutions. We are running an 8-week program to teach you all the skills you need to join the team! Never fear - there is no physical contact with other skaters at this introductory level. 18+, all genders and ability levels are welcome. We will lend you skates and protective gear (you must bring a mouthguard) for the duration of the program. Please RSVP with your shoe size so we can make sure we have skates for you.

    Louella Bryant will read from her newest book, Cowboy Code, set in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Bryant’s coming-of-age tale touches on issues of race, alcoholism, same-sex love and southern culture.

  5. Mother Up! Families Rise Up for Climate Action: Monthly Gathering

    January 28, 2020, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM @ Unitarian Church of Montpelier

    All families welcome! Dinner and childcare are provided. We are a group of parents who know the climate crisis is upon us, and we want to do something about it, while sustaining our activism with humor, and community. We also talk about the trials, joys and tribulations of parenting children who are becoming more and more aware that our planet is struggling.   7. “Do I Have a Book in Me?” with Bill Schubart & Christopher Noël

    January 29, 2020, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM @ Kellogg-Hubbard Library

    Authors Bill Schubart and Christopher Noël will lead a conversation about the art and craft of writing as well as the largely misunderstood continuum of publishing. Topics will including manuscript conception and development, editors, design, business agents, intellectual property rights, publishers, sales, and marketing. Bill Schubart is a literary fiction writer who writes about Vermont in fiction, humor, and opinion pieces. Christopher Noël holds a master’s degree in philosophy from Yale University and an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, where he then taught writing for twenty years. He is the author of seven books. Presented by the Vermont Authors Project.
