Fall Open Studio Weekend @ The Center for Arts and Learning2018-10-13T12:00:00Combine fall foliage viewing and harvest activities with purchases from local artists across Vermont.
Bright yellow signs compete with oranges and reds of October along Vermont's roads enticing visitors to the studios of craftspeople and fine artists across Vermont during the 2018 Fall Open Studio Tour over October 13 & 14. The Vermont Crafts Council is coordinating their event with American Craft Week, a national celebration of craftwork, taking place from October 5 through October 14.
The Center for Arts and Learning on Barre Street has several venues to visit. The T.W. Wood gallery is open and showing works by Warren Kimble. Inky Dinky OinkInk is also open with Liz le Serviget working at her Studio and displaying completed pieces in the Lounge.
We hope you have the opportunity to visit many artists around Vermont, but will make a special stop to visit Montpelier. Happy Fall!

Enchanted Forest 2018-10-13T15:00:00The “Enchanted Forest” is Montpelier’s night time community celebration of Autumn. Located in historic Hubbard Park, hay wagon rides bring groups of people deep into the park where they are led by guides through candle-lit paths to stages of storytelling, music, fire, and enchantment. It is also the one time of the year park goers get to see Hubbard Park’s 50-foot tower illuminated by fire!
Proceeds benefit the Montpelier Parks!
Advance tickets are available at the City Clerk's office at Montpelier City Hall. Tickets will also be available at the Montpelier Farmers Market the three weekends before the event (September 29, October 6, and October 13). NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE GATE.
Tickets: $5 children/$10 adults/$25 family
New this Year! Sunday, October 14th from 3:00 - 7:00 we'll be re-lighting the pumpkins and torches for folks to come and experience a self-guided, performance free "enchanted walk" through the park. By donation - give as you are able!

Northern Saw-whet Owl Banding - Youth Overnight2018-10-13T18:00:00Stay up late with NBNC educators and naturalists as we capture, tag, and release these charismatic pint-sized predators. Good fall weather can yield dozens of migratory Northern Saw-whet Owls at our research station in a single night. We’ll keep the nets open from dusk until the wee hours of the morning, using the Nature Center as our home base for catching some shut-eye before breakfast. Owls and pizza included!
A free program for youth/teen birders and naturalists ages 10 and up. Free, but registration required. Participants must bring sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and pillow. Group size limited to 12.
